We have Natural Premium Bamboo and Natural Baltic Birch that are both light woods. They both are definitely similar in color. The edging on the Bamboo is more refined, it's a much higher end hardwood in terms of wood consistency. The Birch is beautiful as well but it's a softer a much lighter hardwood. They will wear similarly, however the Bamboo will outlast the Birch with years of use because of its density. It's also slightly heavier in terms of end product (3 pound variance). They both will last and have integrity but overall Bamboo is going to be the strongest of the two species.
Adapting to the climber can take time. We love and promote this quote: "We do not force a toy on a child; we do not put it into his hands. We just put him next to it. If he is interested in it, he will reach for it." ~Dr. Emmi Pikler. Some tips we know to work include:
1) Placing the climber in a comfortable environment. Try a few, like the bedroom, living room, any area your child loves.
2) Place a reward like toys or snacks at the top of the climber to try and encourage your little to reach for it and begin climbing.
8mo to 4yr with the Ladder/Slide reversible accessory - 18mo to 4yr with the Rockwall/Slide reversible accessory.
We suggest introducing Little Climber when littles are comfortably crawling around your home. It's best to add Little Climber to your environment and let your children take their time to find interest.

The birch wood material is sealed with a high-gloss, non-toxic, UV coating, so it is fairly weather-resistant. However it is still best to protect the product as much as possible to preserve it's value. When using it outside, be sure to try and protect it from water/rain and do no leave it outside for extended long periods of time to avoid sun/water damage damage. The birch material is sealed with this UV coating, except for the natural wood dowels. These are sanded down to be very smooth and are left completely unsealed. The climber does fold up easy for storage, which makes it easy to transfer from indoors to outdoors.
Yes the Little Climber does fold up for easy storage. It is perfect even in small spaces! It is very easy to fold and you do not have to loosen any bolts. To fold it up, you will have to firmly press down on the top of it and fold it together. Then when you open it, the climber will lock into place for safety. The Climbers height is not adjustable.
To clean the sealed birch wood, we recommend using an oil soap that is used to clean raw wood like “Murphy” oil soap. Dish soap can work as well. Simply mix a tablespoon of either with warm water, dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution and wring most of the liquid out so the cloth is only damp. Make it as damp as possible. Apply then pat dry with a dry cloth. You can also use 220 grit sandpaper to remove any stains or smooth any raw (unsealed) wood.
All wood material is FSC certified. The Little Climber underwent the ASTM F963-17 test for safety, materials and toxic ingredients and passed all categories. All other products are crafted with the same materials.
